Dr. Aaron Roberts

Dinah Vice, DDS

I first became interested in dentistry while an undergraduate at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. My teeth were very crooked, and I lacked self-confidence when I smiled. I entered the Ohio State University Program of Dental Hygiene in 1970. Upon completion, I practiced dental hygiene on and off for eight years while married to my husband and raising our three children, who are now 31, 29, and 25.

In order to progress in my chosen career, I entered the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I graduated in 1984 with my DDS degree and went into private practice in Chapel Hill in 1985.

Over the past 13 years, I have had the privilege to care for and enhance the smiles of many wonderful people. My gratitude and thanks to all I have served.

NOTE: In September, 1998, Dr. Vice traveled to China with the North Carolina Baptist Men's Mission where she lectured and provided dental services for 2 ½ weeks.

Dr. Aaron Roberts

Dr. Aaron Roberts is originally from Charlotte, NC, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1997.  Following graduation he served as a naval aviator for nine years, flying the SH-60B helicopter during two deployments, and the T-34C airplane as a flight instructor.  He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and his awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Air Medal.

Dr. Roberts’s interest in dentistry stemmed from his own experiences as a patient.  Due to a baseball injury as a child he underwent numerous procedures to include root canals, jaw surgery, bridges and finally dental implant treatment.  As a result, he knows firsthand the improvement in quality of life that dentistry can bring and has a strong desire to provide excellent and compassionate care to his patients.  Dr. Roberts left the Navy to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors.  Dr. Roberts was honored to receive awards for excellence in oral surgery from the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC, and esthetics from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.  He was also the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Henry Zaytoun Sr. award given to the senior dental student who most exemplifies professionalism and competence in clinical dentistry.  Dr. Roberts looks forward to meeting and seeing you and your family!

You might say I was born into dentistry as I was sitting chair-side nudging patients from within my mother’s womb.  All this as she diligently worked as a hygienist in Chapel Hill so that my mother could start dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was six when Dr. Dinah Vice, Mom, graduated dental school. I remember many days since then visiting the office and watching mother work.

I grew up in Chapel Hill and received my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I quickly followed this achievement with a Masters in Biochemical and Cellular Biology from East Carolina University. I have since graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. One of my most significant academic and clinical achievements was being nominated by my faculty as an alumni member to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. This honor was awarded to only nine graduating seniors from my class.

My interest in dentistry may seem obvious as I have been exposed to this career my entire life, but it is not so simple. If my mentor had been any other than my mother I may not have chosen dentistry. Not only was I born into dentistry, but I was also given the great occasion to learn how one can make such a positive impact on so many lives. Dentistry is not just about dental tools or methods, it is a part of something much bigger. Dentistry offers me a wonderful opportunity to connect with others and tenderly care for them to help create and maintain a healthy, happy smile. I have always believed that a smile truly can say a thousand words.

In 1969 I was born into a tradition of caring dental professionals. Both my father and grandfather were dentists.

I grew up knowing I wanted to make a difference, and be a positive influence in people's lives. Dentistry was the perfect vehicle to accomplish my goal.

I graduated from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1994. I spent the next four years as a dentist in the Navy and my wife Jerilyn, daughter Sydney, and I moved to Raleigh in 1998 to pursue my dream - helping you smile. I look forward to seeing you soon.

I am a graduate of the UNC School of Dentistry, with a Master's Degree in cellular and molecular biology.

I chose this career when I realized I had a passion for service and for creating with my hands as well as my mind. I consider my work akin to sculpture. I also have a passion for healing. The ability to eliminate someone's pain and discomfort or to allow someone to be infinitely proud of a beautiful smile that functions flawlessly is my definition of job satisfaction. Dentistry is the one career I knew that would satisfy me on a professional level.

The focus of my professional interests lies in the emerging art and science of dental implants. Implants can be used to stabilize a loose denture or give someone back a lost tooth. Until science learns to re-grow teeth, implants are a beautiful and effective treatment.

My personal interests lie in the out-of-doors. Because I am in a profession that demands constant and intense concentration, I like to balance my life with a great deal of physical activity such as mountain biking and skiing.
